Myelography is a type of radiographic examination that uses a contrast agent (dye) to detect pathology of the spinal cord, including the location of spinal narrowing, cysts, and tumors. The procedure involves insertion of a needle into the spinal canal followed by injection of contrast (dye). Several radiographs (x-rays) as well as a CT scan are then performed. A Myelogram may help to find the cause of pain if a patient cannot have an MRI or if an MRI was unable to show the cause of the problem.
